Deleting YouTube Video After Publishing - Useful Guide

Although you cannot replace your YouTube videos, you can delete them anytime you want on your PC, Android, or iPhone from your own Google account. Whether you are a pro-YouTuber or an amateur first-timer to YouTube videos, you might find yourself in a sudden situation where you need to delete an existing video or a full playlist from your channel.

This might happen due to a copyright issue or in case the quality isn’t up to mark.

Whatever the case, we’ve got you covered. We have detailed the entire step-by-step process to delete your YouTube video(s) without any hassle. Keep scrolling.

From Desktop

Deleting YouTube videos from a desktop or a PC is extremely easy. All you need to do is:

Step 1: Open the official YouTube website and log in with your account credentials.

Step 2: Click “My Channel” and tap the “Video Manager” option.

Step 3: You will see a list of videos previously uploaded to your channel. Select the one you want to delete (you may also select multiple), then click “More actions” on the extreme right corner of the top gray bar.

Step 4: Click the “Delete” option. Alternatively, if you want to just hide the video for a while and make it only visible to you, simply choose the option “Private” or “Unlisted”.

Just ensure you save a copy or keep a backup of the video file since, once deleted, you cannot restore a video from YouTube.

On Android devices

Suppose you are away from your desktop but need to delete a video urgently from your YouTube channel, fret not. The YouTube app is a very handy tool that you can access from your Android device (smartphones, notebooks, or tabs) and successfully delete the required video.

Check out the steps below:

Step 1: Open your device and click on the YouTube app. Tap on the icon in the upper right-hand corner; that’s where you can see your account details.

Step 2: Select the “Your channel” option.

Step 3: Tap “Videos”; you will get all the videos your channel has. Now start selecting the ones you want to remove forever.

Step 4: Once selected, click the three dots beside it and click “Delete”.

Step 5: You will get another confirmation dialogue box, click “Delete” again.

And that’s it. You will successfully delete the video forever from your channel.

From iPhone

Deleting videos from a YouTube channel using an iPhone is also very similar to doing the process on an Android device. Check out the following steps:

Step 1: Click the YouTube app and go to your account by clicking the icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Click “Library" and then “Your videos”.

Step 3: Select the video file you want to delete, and select “More actions”

Step 4: Click “Delete”.

Step 5: On the next dialogue box, click “Delete” again to confirm the deletion.

That’s all. Once you delete a video, its URL and title will not be visible on YouTube anymore, nor in the “Analytics”.

From YouTube Creator Studio

Besides using the YouTube mobile app for the deletion process, one can also do the same from the official YouTube Creator Studio mobile app. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Download the YouTube Creator Studio mobile app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 2: Open the app. In the top left, click the “Option” button and go to “Videos”.

Step 3: You will get the entire playlist of all the videos you uploaded. Now search for and select the specific video or videos you want to delete.

Step 4: Tap on the selected files, and you will be redirected to the video editing page.

Step 5: At the top, you will see a pencil icon. Click the icon.

Step 6: Now swipe to the “Advanced” menu tab and, scrolling down the screen, click the “Delete” button.

Well, once you perform the deleting action from any device or the YouTube studio, the process is irreversible; there’s no way you can undo this, so think carefully before deleting.

Thus, keeping backups is a must for future usage. Also, remember, you shall lose the “Watch Time”, views, comments, and engagements as well.
